actaEstablished in 1977, the Association of Canadian Travel Agencies (ACTA), is a national trade association representing the retail travel sector of Canada’s tourism industry. ACTA is an industry-led, non profit, membership based organization.

Our members include retail travel agencies and suppliers such as tour operators, travel wholesalers, airlines, hotels, destination marketing organizations, cruise and rail lines, and automobile rental companies. We represent the interests of Canadian travellers through approximately 2,000 members employing 14,000 travel professionals.

ARTA: Association of Retail Travel Agents

arta1From its roots in 1963, when a small, but vocal group of retail travel agents founded the first agent-only trade association, ARTA continues to be the voice of small and independent travel agents across the country. ARTA has grown in stature from a fledgling organization to a responsible, respected, and influential advocate for the retail travel industry.

ARTA’s policies are grounded in the determination that small and medium sized agencies must, and can, remain a viable component of the travel industry sales channel, regardless of the competitive pressures.

ARTA’s role will be to continue the fight to ensure an equitable competitive landscape, and provide the education and training services necessary to enable the individual agent to adjust to the ongoing challenges of these ever-changing times.

NACTA: National Association of Career Travel Agents

nactaThe National Association of Career Travel Agents (NACTA), was established in 1986 as the original association with a mission to represent the interests of the individual travel consultant, and now has expanded to all professional sellers of travel. NACTA host travel agencies and suppliers support this growing distribution channel.

NACTA represents the interest of the independent Travel Consultant and the greater Travel Consultant community. The association’s role is to focus on the development of the travel consultant through its educational programs designed for our valued members. In addition, offering many member benefits such as health care insurance, discounts on office supplies and more through our affiliate program. Our overall objective is to enhance and secure the success of the professional travel consultant.

TPOC: Travel Professionals of Color

tpocFounders Charlotte Haymore and Betty Jones formally established TPOC as Travel Professionals of Color, LLC. The intent was to sponsor conferences and other positive programs for minority travel agents with a focus on profitability and raising awareness within the travel community regarding professional services available from capable minority travel agents.

The vision of TPOC is to support, assist and spotlight travel industry professionals, destinations and multi-cultural tourism of four ethnic groups: African-Americans, Hispanics, Asian Americans and Native Americans.
In addition to the focus on marketing, seminars and workshops the Association helps minority travel agents become more profitable and knowledgeable about the leisure travel business, the travel products available to sell to the traveling public and multi-cultural and heritage tourism.
